The Only Persons That Matters When Choosing Color Schemes are You and Your Spouse

When choosing a color scheme for the house a home owner can easily become confused. There are so many shades of colors in existence today that to an untrained color professional it is difficult to understand and easy to confuse. Basically frustration is inevitable when selecting colors as a regular color palette encompasses multiple shades. Ideally a home owner and his or her spouse should select colors that they are comfortable with and not what is suggested to them by the designer or friend. When selecting, the only people who matter in this decision making process is your spouse and you, so why not try something that represents your personal style and attitude?

Some people tend to be placid and sober, so in this case, light colors like such as white is likely to be a good option. Several other choices along this line are beige, fawn, crème and light gray. To add a hint of difference and contrast a home owner can opt for brighter shades like red, blue and green. For those who favour contrast ideas then maintaining two color schemes with one color taking the centre stage and the other in the background may serve as an excellent option. For example a combination of dark blue on three walls with light beige shade on the fourth wall would look simply fabulous. Try to remember that every color bears some relationship to other colors.

There are several types of color schemes to choose from, such as monochromatic, adjacent, complementary and triadic. A monochromatic scheme employs only one basic color featuring several different values. An example of this is a home exterior with light blue siding and dark blue shutters and trim. An adjacent system combines two or more colors that are located next to each other on the color wheel. Take for instance blue, blue violet, and blue green. In order to get the best results with this system, select colors that do not have the same value and intensity.
