Properly Covering Your Hot Tub

Properly Covering Your Hot Tub

Many people nowadays own hot tubs because of the many benefits these hot water pools could bring. But when buying a spa, purchasing a cover should also be considered. The cover is as important as the tub itself. In many ways, hot tub covers makes the use of hot tubs hygienic and safer.

First and foremost, a spa cover protects the tub from falling leaves, debris and insects especially when the hot tub is located outdoors. This way, owners do not need to clear out the tub of dirt and worry about the sanitation of the water inside the unit. Covers also protect the tub from direct exposure to the sun, which could cause damage due to the harmful ultra violet rays. But aside from protecting the spa itself, spa covers also prevents owners and users from tub related accidents. There have been many instances that children have accidentally fallen and have nearly drowned inside uncovered tubs while playing. By having your hot tub covered securely, children and adults alike are safe from accidentally falling into a pool of water.

Spa covers also help owners save up on electricity by keeping the water inside the tub warm. Hot tubs use electricity to heat up the water inside and the heating up could take a while especially on large tubs. By covering up your hot tub, the heat is prevented from escaping and is kept inside the tub so you won t need to heat up the water that much the next time you use it.

Hot tub covers should also be cared for like the tub itself for it to last and serve its purpose. Covers should be cleaned at least once a month to maintain proper sanitation. Also, owners should unzip their hot tub covers every two months. This is to allow the foam inside the cover to “breathe” and release moisture. When doing this, the cover should be left in the open to dry for a day.

When buying a top for your spa, you should check out the warranty and the material.
