When you purchase a hot tub, it is imperative that you purchase a hot tub cover, as well. They are available in many sizes, colors and price ranges. Whether you prefer an economy cover, a designer cover or something in between, chances are (with a little diligence) you will find just the product you are looking for.

If you are on a budget, purchasing a lower cost cover should not concern you. Even the economy hot tub covers are constructed from Marine grade vinyl, which is often the same material used in the production of white water rafts.

These covers are very durable and will withstand years of use. Economy hot tub covers have an acceptable insulation rating, are mildew proof and can be easily cleaned with mild soap and water.

If you are searching for a high-end cover there are many great designer covers available, as well. Most covers, regardless of the price range, come with at least a five year warranty.

Before you purchase a new hot tub cover, you will need to take measurements. These measurements need to be as accurate as possible. When in doubt, it is always better to purchase a cover that is a bit bigger than your hot tub. If your cover is too snug it will not sit properly or hold in the heat.

As a rule, all hot tub covers come with some type of tie downs or lock system to secure them to the tub. They are tapered, somewhat, to allow water runoff. Most hot tub covers have handles, which makes it easier to cover and uncover the tub. You also have the option of purchasing a “cover lifter”. As the name implies, it is a mechanism used to do the lifting for you.

Hot tubs can reduce stress levels with its swirling warm water that can calm the senses and relax the mind, making it take away anxiety. It can also help cure insomnia because the heated water helps to raise body temperature, which in turn enhances the ability of a person to fall asleep easily. Hot tubs could also improve respiratory conditions because of the steam that comes off from the hot water.

With its many health benefits, many trainers and therapists recommend the use of hot tubs as warm water therapy that helps patients get back to their best physical condition faster.
